劇情是講述葉問出國到美國三藩市，尋找學校讓兒子留學，希望下一代能拓闊世界視野，並順
道參觀徒弟李小龍的中國武術展示。
然而，在其短暫的旅程中，葉問發現外國生活並非如他想
像一般美好，原來不公義的事情同樣存在。由於種族文化的差異，他與兒子的關係日趨惡化，
兒子甚至不接聽他的電話，令人在他鄉的葉問深感失落。在面對前所未有的孤寂與迷茫的時候
，葉問更無意中捲入一宗中西武術界的衝突事件，多名武術師傅被一名外國軍官巴頓打至重傷
